My Marvel Daily Draw on Tumblr

I'm posting drawings from the Marvel Multiverse every day on Tumblr all month long.  Posting a few entries here to let y'all know.  Storm's Mohawk is probably my favorite thing about Claremont's run on X-Men.  And Magik's design is just stupid cool.

03.  The Goddess With the Genoshan Tattoo

01. The Demon Queen of Limbo

Seriously, though.  Come over to Tumblr.  Join.  Follow.  You'll like it.

CTN XPO

THIS is a bit for my buddy's anthology, Reality Not Included, that will be on sale this weekend at CTN.  Table info HERE.

I'll be there, too.  I'm getting interviewed this Saturday by Kazu Kabuishi for the New Talent Showcase.  So that will be cool, I think.  Look me up if you're at the show and WE CAN HANG OUT.

So this is a page-in-progress for a buddy's anthology.

You can get your copy for three more days over on Kickstarter.

I'm inking this one digitally, which is a new thing for me.  But I won't really know if it works until I've got it colored and printed... We'll see.

METRO, my short film from the school days, is done with the festival circuit and can now be watched on Vimeo!  Or right here.  Enjoy!

My alma mater is printing some DVD’s of my student film for an upcoming festival.  So I drew this cover for it.

This was a fun little project.  And I had good dudes helping me out.

HEY FRIENDS!!

For those who didn't get a primeape print before they sold out, a second print run will be available for purchase

until May 11th.  They're nice, limited edition prints selling for $40.00 each, which is a pretty nice deal.

The other artists have some fantastic prints for sale, too.

OH, and for any interested parties, I post a lot more frequently over on Tumblr.

You can see some in-progress stuff and quick sketches over there that I don't post to blogger.

Be well, people!  Enjoy your Wednesday comics!

KETCHUM ALL

This week I did my piece for the Pokemon  Battle Royale show at the Light Grey Art Gallery.  Each of the 151 gen-one pokemon will be depicted by a different illustrator.  There's some real talent in that show, people have done cool things.

I got Primeape.  So I drew this:

I never played any of the games, but for a while during middle school I'd make my littlest brother watch the show with me and pretend I was doing him a favor.

MOEBIUS

Finally found a minute to pay my respects to Jean Giraud who passed away last week.

Moebius is one of the people who made comics a place I wanted to be.  He brought the surreal, the strange, the disturbing into comics, and his influence has spread like a strange alien lichen across the breadth of the medium, beautifying and changing everything it touched.

He made comics a place where wild and wonderful things can grow, a garden of horrors and delights where artists can create with absolute freedom.  He broke down the wall around the garden, let it run riot, and left it for us.

I hope he's passed on to a place just as strange and fabulous as the worlds he left behind.

FANART FRIDAY: TORIYAMA AKIRA and THE BOOK OF THREE

Anthony and I are still studying the work of Toriyama Akira.  This week: Dragon's Quest.  You can check out his inspired interpretation HERE.

Also I maybe pretended like he was Taran from the Prydain Chronicles while I was drawing him.  Just a little bit.

Drawing this was the most fun I have had all week.  When I was a kid I drew little generic fantasy dudes with swords ALL THE TIME, but when I got 'serious' about art in college I kind of stopped.

That was a mistake.  I freaking love dudes with swords.
